Meiji Gakuin University, Shirokane, Tokyo, Japan ca. 1905
Submitted by barblafaraThis is an old school photo that belonged to my Uncle Takeo (he is the young man sitting on the far right) from about 1905. I have just learned the names of 3 of the teachers standing behind the students and thought this would be a good place to post. From right is Martin Nevius Wyckoff, Albert Oltmans, unknown man and Yushichi Kumano. Wyckoff and Oltmans were missionaries from the Dutch Reformed Church in America. Meiji Gakuin University in Tokyo was established in 1886 by the merging of three institutions founded by Presbyterian and Dutch Reform missionaries.
