Martin was born in the Netherlands in 1865 and came to the United States with his parents when he was one and a half years old. His parents were Gerrit and Alberdina (Brummeler) Telder. Martin was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and married Anna Kornoelje, daughter of Johannes and Cornelia "Katie" (Barendse) Kornoelje. Martin and Anna had seven children. He died in 1839 at 73 years of age.
Gerrit VanHolstyn (1887-1973) and Sieb "Sylvia" DeJong (1892-1980) were married in the Netherlands and had nine children. They moved to the United States in 1949 and seven of their grown children eventually moved to west Michigan. Two of those later married and moved to Canada. Two daughters remained in the Netherlands. This is their wedding photo taken around 1914.
