In November 1932 a young girl from Wales was returning to Wales with her family. She was a student in Mary Louise Huck's fifth grade class at East Ward School, Sharon, Mercer County Pa. Above is a copy of the card that was signed by all of her classmates and presented to her by her teacher M. Louise Huck. The student was named Betty Hill and appears in the photo at right with her younger sister Marian.

The smaller photo is a Slippery Rock State Normal photo of the teacher Mary Louise Huck Rice.

Betty Hill arrived in the United States from Wales in 1930 with her parents. They settled in Sharon, Mercer County, PA, where her aunt and uncle Frank and Gladys Hill Greenslade were residing. Betty attended East Ward School from 1930 until November 1932 when because of the depression her father decided to return to Wales. Betty was very sad to leave and has had a fond memory of Sharon for these past 70 years.
