Willie Hawley and Grat Compton were cousins who lived right along the Virginia-West Virginia state line near Bluefield, Willie in Mercer County WV and Graff in Tazewell County Virginia. This is obviously a staged event for a fun picture. The time period is circa 1920.

Spangler Siblings in Brushy Fork WV

The subjects of this picture are Callie, Clayton, and Rhoda Spangler. They lived along Brushy Fork Road near the Virginia, West Virginia state line in the vicinity of Bluefield. The time period is circa 1922. Two other siblings, Arthur and Laura had died earlier, as had both parents, Henry Garrett and Rosa. Callie also died about four years after this photo but Clayton and Rhoda both married, lived long lives, and had several children each.

This is near the Virginia/West Virginia state line on Brush or Brushy Fork Road and near Bluefield VA/WV. The style of clothing and hair styles indicate it is in the early 1900s. Members of the Hawley and/or Spangler family may be in this picture.
