William DeForeest (1838-1921), son of Gershom and Elenor DeForeest, was born in Brookfield Township, Trumbull County, OH, 17 Dec 1837. He established himself in the sale of musical instruments and phonograph records in Sharon, PA.

William DeForeest married Miss Mary E. Locke, 16 Feb 1865. They became the parents of three children: William Meade, who died in infancy; Myrten V., and Eva.

Gershom DeForeest (1787-1882), the grandson of Isaac DeForeest, born in Somerset Co., NJ, worked as a farmer and came to Mercer County, Pennsylvania, in 1832, having made the trip from New Jersey by team and wagon with his wife, Elenor, and eight children. He was the father of Abram, Samuel, John, Isaac, and William C., Martha, and Catherine.

From the Twentieth Century History of Mercer County, 1909:

"This truly hard pioneer and excellent gentleman who blazed his way from the far away coast to the wilderness of Ohio, lies buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon, Pennsylvania."

Elenor/Elanor Dunham DeForeest was the wife of Gershom DeForeest (1787-1882) and the mother of Abram, Samuel, John, Isaac, William, Martha and Catherine Dunham Christy.

She was born in Somerset county, New Jersey June 11, 1793, and died December 19, 1872 in Mercer County, PA.

She married Gershom DeForeest January 26, 1815.

Abram DeForeest (1815-1895), was the son of Gershom and Elenor DeForeest and the brother of Samuel, John, Isaac, and William. He also had several sisters.
