Private Vernon M. Cunningham, the son of Mr and Mrs. A. M. Cunningham, 1134 North Fifth Street, was stationed at the hospital at Camp San Luis Obispo, California, and was honorable discharged a few days ago because of the age limit rule. Before his transfer to the west he was stationed at Camp Robinson, Arkansas.
Pvt. Cunningham has had many years military experience. He was born March 19, 1900 at Carrollton. In the first World War he was drill sergeant connected with Company D, 549th Engineers. He entered service July 13, 1918, received his training at Camp Humphreys, Virginia, Camp Merritt, New jersey, and sailed overseas November 10, 1918, on the Mauretania.
He was stationed at Camp Windiedown, England, and Camp Havre, France and was on the seas when the armistice was signed. He was discharged July 12, 1919, at Camp Taylor, Kentucky.
