Alonzo Platt

Alonzo Platt

Alonzo Platt was the son of Daniel and Julia Platt. Born in New York, Alonzo's and his family moved to Richmond Twp, Crawford County, PA, by 1850. His family is listed in the 1850 census for Richmond Twp.

Alonzo married Abigail Clark, daughter of Joseph Clark and Syble Phillips. The marriage took place at the home of Abigail's uncle R. Phillips on 3 July 1856 and was performed by the Rev. R.C. Chapman.

Alonzo and Abigail had three children, Cibbel Francis, Hampson Gates and Charles Richard.

Alonzo was a farmer until he joined the C 150 Pennsylvania Inf. at Meadville, PA on 30 Aug 1862. On 1 July 1863 he was killed in Gettysburg by the explosion of a shell.

Abigail continued to live in Richmond Twp. until her death 8 Jan 1882. Cibbel (Syble) Francis and Charles Richard attend the orphanage school in Titusville.
