Katherine McKearney

Katherine McKearney

I found this photo and am hoping that someone will know this woman. As the photo suggests, it was taken in 1914. It is inscribed, "With a heartfull of love and best wishes. Katherine, '14."

My 3x great-grandfather John McKearney family came from Glin, Kilfergus, Limerick, Ireland. John McKearney he was born in 1806 in Glin. He married Mary Scanlon at some point, but do not know exactly where. According to his Declaration of Citizenship to the USA from 1847, he came to St. John New Brunswick in 1842, and then settled in Sidney, Maine in the spring of 1843. He then built his home in Yarmouth Maine in 1847. He had three children, Margaret, Nellie and Joseph McKearney. Joseph is my 2x great grandfather.

I am thinking this photo is a cousin. The name McKearney was written on the back of the photo, which leads me to believe that her name is Katherine McKearney. McKearney may have been her maiden name. As you can see from the photo, she is married and looks fairly young and very fashionable. There is an elevated stamp on the photo underneath her signature which is very difficult to read. But with the help of a magnifying glass, I am able to make out,”?? Studios, 161 & 164 Tremont Street, Boston, MA." The only Tremont Street that I know of is in the South End of Boston.

Hope someone recognizes her. She would be about the same age as my great grandmother Helen McKearney who was born in Yarmouth Maine in 1893.
