An item in the Marienville Express newspaper dated Sept 6, 1894, states that "Will Matson went to Foxburg Friday and caught for Francis Moriarty with the Foxburg team and helped to defeat the Emlenton club Saturday. Moriarty and Matson will be the battery for the Marienville club in the game to be played with Tionesta next Monday."
