James Bleakley

James Bleakley

James Bleakley was from Franklin, PA.  In 1870, he purchased the a banking business in Sharon, PA, from D. C. Strawbridge.  His new bank was called James Bleakley Sons & Company.

Alexander McDowell, the manager of the business, purchased the bank in 1872, and renamed it "Alex McDowell, Banker."  This bank was the forerunner to the McDowell National Bank.
After the sale to McDowell, James Bleakley returned to Franking and continued banking business which later became the Franklin Trust Company.
