Reverend Boaz B.F. Pugh

Boaz F. Pugh, b.4 August 1847, was the youngest son of James Pugh (1764-1841)and enlisted in the army with his older brother James L Pugh on 21 August 1864 in Company K, 204th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Volunteers.

After honorary discharge from the army, Boaz attended normal schools of the county. He taught school, entered the Missionary Institute, now Susquehanna University at Selinsgrove, Snyder County, PA. He studied theology and prepared himself for the ministry under Dr. James H Zeigler and graduated in June 1877. He was ordained a Lutheran minister on June 20, 1877, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Orangeville, IL. Here he met his wife Frances Adaline Cadwell and they were married on 10 Apetember 1878 in Elmira, NY.
