Captain Martin Luther Stone

Captain Martin Luther Stone was born in 1831 in Harborcreek Township, Erie County, PA, the son of Russell and Abigail Babcock Stone.  He moved to Summerhill Township, Crawford County in 1837. He married Jane A. Hallock. 

He served as a Captain in the Civil War in Company I, 2nd PA Cavalry.  Capt. Stone was taken prisoner at Malvern Hill, VA, in Aug 1864 and released in Feb 1865.  

He was part owner of a dry goods store in Conneautville with his brother-in-law, William B. Gleason.  He was a member of the Conneautville Methodist Church and sang in the choir.
Capt. Martin Luther Stone died in 1870 from a disease that he had contracted during his military service.  He is buried in Conneautville Cemetery.
