Pvt. Philip Francis Pfiester

Philip F. Pfiester was the son of Wendlin Pfiester and Mary Anna Yaegel. He was born in Nicktown on 19 Feb 1910.

He married Anna Marie Niebauer on 22 May 1940.

Philip was an infantryman in Company I of the 315th Infantry Regiment, 79th Infantry Division. He was mortally wounded on Bloody Hill 84 during the allied invasion of Normandy. He died in a field hospital 10 July 1944. He was 34 years old.

Philip is buried in the Normandy American Cemetery near St. Laurent-sur-Mer, France.

Photo taken when Philip was home on leave, just prior to him being shipped overseas. It is one of the last known photos taken of him before his death. Philip made the ultimate sacrifice for his country.
