Franklin P. Barnhart

Franklin P. Barnhart was born 6 Sep 1873 Johnstown, Cambria, PA, and died 26 Nov 1961 in Johnstown. His wife was Gertrude Heller, born abt. 1875 in Hazelton, PA. They had one daughter, Gertrude Barnhart. He is the son of Henry and Amanda (Bowman) Barnhart, natives of Somerset Co PA. His grandfather is Michael Barnhart.
Mr. Franklin Barnhart attended grade school in Roxbury, then the Upper Yoder Schools, followed by Indiana State Normal School, graduating in 1895. Mr. Barnhart taught high school two years at Blairsville High School and then became the principal at the Seventh Ward and Somerset Street School, Johnstown, PA.
He next was graduated from Princeton University in 1902 and Dickson College Law School in 1905. Mr. Barnhart became an attorney with offices in the Swank Building in Johnstown. Last he was elected a member of the Pennsylvania State Legislature from 1907-1911.
