John Bloom, a native of Finland who operated as foreman of the P. Y. & A. docks for several years in March '91 opened a grocery store. The business rapidly increased and a year since he erected the commodious store building on Oak Street to accommodate his trade and added a full line of crockery and queensware with some clothing and other general goods.
