James McGinnis Hoffman

James McGinnis Hoffman, born 1838 in West Greenville, Mercer Co., PA. Died after 1910 in Ashtabula Co., OH. Brother to Joseph Johnson Hoffman and Rev. George Washington Hoffman (1833-1884). He was a farmer and moved to Ohio about 1860.

James married first Mollie A. Waters, born 14 May 1834 in Lenox Twp, Ashtabula Co., Ohio, and became the father of one child, Ida May, born 1866 in OH. Second, he married Alvina Nye in Geauga Co., OH, in 1879.

James and Alvina are buried in the cemetery of the "Free Methodist Church of Griggs Corners" near the intersection of Griggs and Brown Road and just north of the Ashtabula Airport. The old church now belongs to the Grange Association.
