Aaron S. Ridenour

Civil War photo of Aaron S. Ridenour (1844-1914). He enlisted in Co. G, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Militia, on July 2, 1863, in response to Gov. Curtin's urgent plea for volunteers to meet the emergency of Lee's invasion of Pennsylvania. He accompanied his regiment to Pittsburgh, from whence they were sent down the Ohio to Wheeling. Provided with mounts, they were sent to intercept Morgan's Raiders in Ohio, where a skirmish was fought near Salineville resulting in Morgan's surrender. The crisis having passed, he was mustered out with his company on August 17th.

The bugle from his cap, as well as his discharge, are in the possession of Thomas P. Ridenour, great grandson.
