They lived in Niles, Michigan in the early 60's, moving to settle in Mottville twp., White Pigeon, St. Joe. Co., MI.
In the 80's, they opened The Mottville Black Powder Shop, selling muzzle loader supplies and things related to the pre-1840 life style.Nancy carried on the business until abt. 2005.
They had three children of which I am one.

They both died from complication of cancer.

James Charles Wollam was born Oct. 1st 1839 at Celina, Mercer Co., Ohio, and passed away Dec., 6th, 1914 age 75 years, 2 months and five days.

He was married to Margaret Jane Cauffman, Oct. 14th, 1860, to this union seven children were born.

John W. of Goshen, Ind., George E. of Benton Harbor, Melvin P., of Winter Park, Fla., Mary A., Frank D., Jesse C. and Nellie Mae of this place.

On the 7th day of Aug., 1862 he enlisted in the 74th regiment of Indiana Infantry to serve three years, but was discharged for disability on the 18th of July 1863. He was a member of the G. A. R. and Major Murdock, circle.

He has been a member of the Camp and the I. O. O. F. for more than 35 years and until of late years was one of the active members.

Died in Berrien Springs Michigan.

Death came Sunday Morning. All Children Survive Father. Funeral Tuesday Afternoon.

Newspaper clipping: Local Boy on Last Lap of 16 Years Navy Service

Victor Bishop Wollam, son of Melvin P. Wollam, arrived in Berrien Springs, Michigan Saturday for a visit at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. J.C. Wollam and other relatives. He was a former local boy, leaving here in 1900 and since 1908 has been in the Navy, enlisting as an apprentice but is now a commissioned officer. He had three honorable discharges but when his present term expires, which will complete 16 years service, he announces that he will retire and with his wife go to Florida to live with his father in Florida who is in the orange and store business. The sailor's marriage was rather romantic, meeting a girl one day and marrying her the next. He is now stationed on one of the Ford Eagle boats at Detroit. Victor sustained a broken shoulder, hip and ankle while in service. He helped in sinking a submarine during the war. The Wollam families are well known in Berrien Springs and Benton Harbor.

Enlisted in the Navy Nov. 8th 1908, left Birmingham, Al. on Seaboard Line. Arrived in Norfolk, Va. on the morning of the 10th. He was 17 years old. He listed all the books he read, how much money was sent home and what others owed him plus what he purchased.

Margaret Jane Wollam obit sent by Shirley Mason

Margaret Jane Wollam, daughter of Peter and Mary Cauffman, was born in Salem, Juniata county, Pennsylvania, July 29, 1841, and died at her home in Berrien Springs, March 12, 1926, age 84 years 7 months and 13 days. On Oct. 14, 1860, she was united in marriage to James C. Wollam and two this union was born seven children. Four of the children, together with the husband, have preceded her to the Great Beyond, the youngest child, Mrs. Warren P. Mason, having passed away just six weeks ago. The remaining children are Jess and Frank of this place, and Melvin of Homestead, Fla. Mrs Wollam also leaves on sister, Mrs. Etta Markley, of Buchanan, and one brother, Will Cauffman, of Dowagiac, who is spending the winter in California. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Wollam united with the Methodist Church of this place by letter Jan. 9. 1866, and at the time of her death was the oldest both in membership and age.

She was a charter member of the Ladies of the G. A. R. circle and also held a life membership card of the Olive Rebekah lodge. Elkhart County, Indiana

Melvin and Augusta Wollam's children were Nellie, James, Augusta Louise, Orlando, and Marguerite.

According to the 1870 Census, George, Mary and Melvin were all born in Michigan. 1880 Census shows additional children: Franklin, Jessie and Nellie all born in Michigan.
