Dr. Olive Irene Reddick

Dr. Olive Irene Reddick, born Findlay, Ohio 1896, daughter of Walter Lowery and Mary Cleland Reddick who was the son of William T. and Elizabeth Day Reddick, who was the son of Jesse Giles and Rose Anne Hawk Reddick.

Olive received her Ph. D. from Radcliff College in 1932 after attending public school and college in PA and Ohio. She was director of the US Educational Foundation in India which was responsible for administration of the Fulbright program in India, for abt 14 years. She was on the faculty at Hood College from 1932 till 1957 and was Sr. Economic analyst on Southeast Asia for the Office of Strategic Services in Washington and New Delhi from 1942 till 1946.

Dr. Olive Reddick died in Jan 1970 in Houston, TX.

Regina Armstrong, b. abt 1861 McComb, Hancock Co. OH, m. husband #1 Charles D. Hilliard, January 16, 1884 in Shelby Co., TN, m. #2 Charles Niehaus abt 1900 in NY. She died March 9, 1950 in New Rochelle, NY.

How much time Regina spent in Western PA is not certain, but her son Clare Paul Hilliard was married in Pittsburgh on August 20, 1913. She was the daughter of Thomas J. Armstrong and Jane Ann Welch Von Roth.

She is listed in the book Who Was Who in American History, 1944-1945…Vol. 23 and also in Who’s Who in Americana Vol. 20, 1938-1939, page 194. Her family is mentioned in the book Pioneer Period and Pioneer People of Fairfield Co. OH published in 1901.

This photo was taken in the Spring of 1892. My great-grandmother, Emma Lucretia Gobrecht Bowman (1859-1915) with her son, Lawrence (1889-1892). Emma was the daughter of William Abdiel Gobrecht and Caroline Magdeline Hinch and was married to Albert Bowman.
