Edwin Perry Gulnac was born 9 Dec 1875 in Ridgway, Elk Co, PA. Elsie Belle Sharp was born 15 Sep 1879 in Sigel, Jefferson Co, PA. They married in 1898. In 1900 they were in Spring Creek Twp, Elk Co, PA. Edwin was in the lumber industry, so about 1905 they moved to Spruce, Pocahontas Co, WV, a lumber company town.

Durl Edwin Gulnac was born on 17 Feb 1902 in Halton, Spring Creek Twp, Elk Co, PA. He died on 17 Jan 1961 in Franklin, Sandy Creek Twp, Venango Co, PA and was buried on 19 Jan 1961 in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Franklin, Venango Co, PA. Durl married Margaret Lillian Herzog on 25 Nov 1924.

Rev. John H. Bates

The Rev. John H. Bates was born in Lowell, Mass., 27 Nov 1848, the only child of John M. and Emily Blackman Bates.

In 1873 he married Caroline Phillips, daughter of Samuel Phillips, of Mercer, Pa. Five children were born of this union: Samuel P. Bates, Emily B. Ballard, of Long Beach, CA; Madge B. Horton, of Buffalo, NY; Charles E. Bates, of Cattaraugus, NY, and John H. Bates, Jr., of Pasadena, CA.

Rev. Bates joined the Erie Conference after serving Methodist churches at Franklin and Oil City, Pa., and served pastorates at Leon, Westfield, Dunkirk, Mayville, Silver Creek, Meadville, and other New York and Western Pennsylvania churches.

Rev. Bates died on 11 Feb 1926, as the result of having been hit by a street car in Buffalo a few weeks previously.

This picture was was taken at Coulter Studio, 13 & 15 E 10th Street Tyrone PA & West End Gallery, Ridgway PA. I believe she is either the same woman as the one from the Beers/Bowersox album that was taken at the same studio, or is related. I thought that lady was Anna Belle Haney, who married Walter Jerome Beers 19 Oct 1900 Elk Co, Pennsylvania.

This picture was found at the Humphrey-Terwilliger farm in Millcreek Twp, Clarion Co, PA. It is inscribed Will/'09 in front under the image, which leads me to believe it is a graduation picture. I believe this may be William Grover Beers, b. 8 Mar 1890 Sugar Lake, Randolph Twp, Crawford Co, Pennsylvania. His family moved from Crawford Co, PA to Sugarcreek Twp, Venango Co, Pennsylvania between 1900 and 1903. My grandmother, Ethel Beers Terwilliger, lived in the house most if her life and had a lot of Beers pictures, and Will was her uncle.

This photo if of a couple and two boys taken at C. H. Allreck? Studio in Franklin PA. The man is wearing a jacket with wide lapels and one row of buttons, white tie with vine down the middle and a round silver pin in top buttonhole. He is clean shaven and his hair and eyes are dark. The woman has a fitted bodice with fabric over chest, elaborate embroidered pattern and it attaches on both sides with four buttons, long sleeves. The necklace is v-neck with contrasting fabric over each shoulder. Her hair is dark and is pulled back from her face, and she is wearing a necklace. The boys are both wearing suits with a handkerchief in the pocket, and one has a striped bowtie and the other a solid colored one. The picture has a sepia background as was in a cover.
