This "fireworks" plant was was operated by the National Fireworks Ordnance Corporation as a government owned - contractor operated (GOCO) facility under the supervision of U.S. Navy personnel during World War II. The area is now part of the Highland Industrial Park which has always had a relationship with the US defense establishment.
