Train Station

Yes, the train station looks great now. I saw it in the process of restoration and then again in 11/2007 after it had been completed. To commemorate my great grandfather former Governor Steunenberg and his brother A.K. Steunenberg, there is now a monument on the lawn as it exists today on the side of the station you see in this photograph. Most of what is the lawn shown here is now a parking area. So many historical buildings have been lost that it was nice see the station retained and returned to its former glory.

My great grandfather, Edward Nelson, was the station foreman for many years there. I believe it was about 192(?) until his retirement. He passed in 1957. Thank you for sharing this photo. I have no family pics, this is the closest I have come to seeing where he worked in photos. Prior to coming to Caldwell, he was the Station foreman at Ontario, OR OSLRR
Many thanks,

OSL Depot, Caldwell, ID

Hi Pam-
I'm sorry that you don't have any family pictures from your great-grandfather's time at the Caldwell depot. You'll be pleased to know that the Caldwell depot (now owned by the city) has been completely refurbished. It is beautiful. The dedication for the interpretive center will be Friday, Nov 21 @ 6 PM. All are welcome!
We're putting together a scrapbook and would love to have any information that you have about your great-grandfather's time at the Caldwell depot!
