Chaplins Have Four Sons in Navy WW11 era
Mr and Mrs Thomas Chaplin of Hillsboro, Illinois are the parents of four sons and two daughters and their four sons are now in the United States Navy with the entrance of the youngest son, Thomas, age 18 years, only fours weeks ago. Thomas is now receiving his boot training at the Great Lakes Naval Training station and likes the Navy as well as he thought he would after hearing his brothers talk of the Navy life for the past several years. 2-C Robert James Chaplin age 26 enlistedin July of 1942 and has seen much duty since that time. He is a member of the crew on the USS Tennessee. Ph M 1_C Charles Chaplin is with the 120 th unit of the Marine Corps and will have been in the service for four years in September. He has seen much foreign duty, was overseas for over a year at one time during which he contracted a tropical fevor and was returned to the United States several weeks ago for rest and medical treatment and is now a patient in the Navy hospital on Treasure Isalnd, California. G.M. 2-C Andres V. Chaplin has served over three years in the United States Navy following his enlistment and is a member of the crew of the USS Richmond. He too has seen much service abroad. often remaining of of the States for several months at a time. Mrs. Robert Chaplin and two small children of Pekin are guest in the home of her husband's parents on Park Street at the present time. Taken from scrap book on WW11, 1940's state of Illinois area.
