Henry Young, Mrs. Rose McMullin, James Baldwin: Blood Donor Situation for Norma Jean Young

"It could only happen in a country like outs": Shown above, left to right are Henry Young, father of 12 year old Norma Jean, Mrs. Rose McMullin, famous blood donor , and James Baldwin, reproter for the Illinois State Register, who wrote the first story last Monday which drew city wide attention to the little girl's plight. The campaign to raise a fund for the blood donation for little Norma Jean was started by the Illinois State Register without the knowledge of the father. Saturday, after Mrs. McMullin had arrived, he visited the State Register office to express his appreciation to all those people of central Illinois who responded to the girl's aid. "I am not able to express in words how I feel" Mr. Young said. "It could only happen in a country like outs. Thanks and thans again and God bless you everyone." 1940's era
