Town Pump Coffee Shop, Pocahontas, Iowa 1940

Pocahontas IA

Cheryl,

I was curious as to how you are related to any of there photos of Pocahontas.
My mother was born there and she also worked at the Town Pump and went to school at Sacred Heart.
I am trying to find people who knew her in the early 40's. This information is to try and find a boy she was dating before moving to WI in 1944.
Thank you for time. My mothers name was Mary Rose Deheck.

Pocahontas Memories

My parents, Ella and Larry Weik bought and operated the Town Pump from 1947 to 1950. I was 10 years old when we moved from Chicago to Pocahontas. I attended 5th, 6th, and 7th grades in the old Pocahontas Public School. My youthful years in Pocahontas are now some of my favorite memories. The last time I visited Pocahontas was in the early 1990's. On that occasion I ran into an old classmate, Bob Mell, who was then owner of Bob's Bar on the NW corner of Main and 3rd St. My mother's brother, Victor Moskalski, also lived in Pocahontas. He operated a radiator repair service in a garage behind his home for a number of years. I believe his son, Ron, my cousin, operated a reapholstery or furniture store for several years before moving to Missouri with his family.
