This was taken at the beautiful house in Larned, KS that the family liked so much. The occasion is their 11th wedding anniversary, 1946. The furnishings such as the round mirror, the seltzer bottle, the flower vase, the cake pedestal, the Southwestern textiles hanging on the wall, the wine decanter on the mantle... these things were permanent fixtures in our household.

the cake pedestal
not too long ago, a friend gave me a cake pedestal that is virtually identical to the one in the picture. she said she thought it was old. now i have a ball park average of how old. i love this site!
