My great grandfather Francis Edwin Thorne, b. Oct. 20, 1843 in Corning, Stueben Co., NY, died May 25, 1930 in Retsil, Kitsap Co., WA. Francis Edwin served in Company A, 179th Reg't NY Infantry, enlisting at Tarrytown, NY in 1864 and mustered out June 8, 1865 at Alexandria, VA.
