Cora Bell Boone was born March 22, 1871, in Mitchell County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of James J. Boone and Mourning Jane Quinn. She married John Wesley Smith January 6, 1889, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Cora and John owned and operated the Smith Hotel, located in Forest City, Rutherford County, North Carolina. Cora died Aug 17, 1966. Both, Cora, and John, are buried at Providence United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rutherford County, North Carolina.
