Emma Jane May, born 28 June 1856, in McKean, Erie County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John May VIII and Jane Stancliff May. She married Charles A. Hawks on 03 June 1880 in Wattsburg, Pennsylvania. They raised their family in Jefferson, Ashtabula County, Ohio. Their children were: Clayton Homer Hawks, Bertell Joseph Hawks, Judith May Hawks, William Foster Hawks and Roy Charles Hawks.
