John Schumm born 1843 Schumm, Van Wert, OH died 28 Oct 1864 Salisbury, Rowan, NC-son of Georg Martin Schumm (1812-1871) & Maria Pflueger
Co. A, 60th Regiment OVI --enlisted 27 Feb 1864--fought in the battle of Petersburg, VA--wounded & captured & sent to the Confederate prison at Salisbury where he died
The flag of his regiment, which he upheld in many actions (he was the color sergeant), is now in the State House at Columbus, OH
