Charles Medley Taggart, Senior - Spanish American War

Charles M. Taggart, Sr. of Deerfield, Portage, Ohio, served in the U.S. Army, 6th U.S. Cavalry, Troop I from 1898-1899 during the Spanish American War. He did not see fighting in Cuba. He later did a tour of duty at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Even though Charles M. Taggart had never met, "Boss" Mark Hanna, he wrote to then-U.S. Senator Hanna (R-OH) asking to be discharged from the military. His request was granted.
