Barnett Pennell Sr., was born to William Pennell (born in Scotland) and Sarah Ann Oliver (born in New Jersey) Sept 20, 1840 Trumbull County, OH, and died Oct 27, 1921 Troy Twp, Crawford Co, PA. On Feb 2, 1868 near Turnersville, PA he married Marietta Cole, daughter of Charles Cole and Clara Hunt, both of NY.
In 1915 the family lived in Guys Mills, PA, and in 1921 they lived in Townville, PA.
Barnett Pennell Sr. was also a veteran of the Civil War having served in the 15th Ohio Battery Volunteers Light Artillery with a promotion to Corporal.
