James Close McGuire

James Close McGuire, b: 1843 d: 1888, was the son of James M. McGuire and Esther Close of Summit Township, and the grandson of Philip McGuire and Catherine Logan, immigrants from Ireland and one of the first settlers in Crawford County, Pa. Esther Close was the daughter of Jonathan Close and Magdalena Cuncle who were also very early settlers in Crawford County.
James married Effie Palmanteer about 1877. They became the parents of three daughters: Euphias Aurelia McGuire who married Michael J. Boyle, Florence Theresa McGuire who married William James Young and Madeline G. McGuire who married Thomas Mulvey.
James met an early death in a farm accident in 1888 on the family farm in Summit Township, Crawford County.
