George Alvin Brockway was born 14 Feb 1841 in Brockwayville, Jefferson Co, PA, and died 2 Feb 1907 in Des Moines, Polk Co, IA. He was buried in Brockway Cemetery, Conesville, Orono Twp, Muscatine Co, IA. He was the son of James Maine Brockway and Lydia Goff. He married Isadora Clementine Brobst 1 Jan 1867 in IA, daughter of Solomon Brobst ii and Maria Susan Traugh. She was born 28 Feb 1847 in Columbia Co, PA, and died 1 Mar 1922 in Muscatine, IA. She was buried in Brockway Cemetery, Conesville, Orono Twp, Muscatine Co, IA.

George was a farmer. He served in the military 1863 to 1865 in the 35th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, along with his brother Emmett. Battles of Tupelo, Old R. Lk., forced march after Price's Cavalry, etc.
