Adam L. and Emaline "Emma" Mitchel Cearfoss of Edinburg, PA, parents of Minnie Emma Cearfoss McCreary of Hillsville, PA.

Photo taken about 1902.

Information from the Edinburg Methodist Episcopal Cemetery Book (AKA Edinburg/Edenburg Cemetery) of Mahoning Township, Lawrence Co., PA by Dwight Copper:

ADAM L. CEARFOSS 01/09/1842 - 05/31/1912

*Co. D 100th Regiment "Roundheads" Pa Volunteer Infantry wounded at Cold Harbor, Virginia June 2nd, 1864 G.A.R. enlisted August 28, 1861 and discharged July 24, 1865.

Adam was born in Beaver County, Pa. and died at Edenburg, Pa. He was the son of Peter and Margaret Hoon Cearfoss, husband of Emeline Mitchell, married April 3, 1866.

Emeline Mitchell was born June 13, 1841, the daughter of George S. and Mary Cox Mitchell. (I cannot find record of her death, and do not know whether she may be buried here or not.)

Adam and Emeline Mitchell Cearfoss were the parents of seven children:
James E. Cearfoss
Nelson A. Cearfoss (born November 16, 1872), married Martha Dripps
Nora S. Cearfoss, married Lawrence Kaufman (or Kufman/Coffman)
Mary J. Cearfoss, married R. (Rawls) Heasley
Minnie E. Cearfoss, married Joseph McCreary
and two additional children who died young, probably buried here as well - family information from obituary.
