John D. Patterson, seated on left, beside half brother William C. Patterson, seated on right.
Both are sons of William Patterson by first and second wife, Elizabeth Buchanan and Jane Hopper respectively. Their grandparents were John and Mary Clendenin Patterson, pioneer settlers of Lawrence Co. in 1801.
