Earl and Ray Van Patton, and Earl Stauffer at the Old Swimming Hole

Earl and Ray Van Patton, and Earl Stauffer at the Old Swimming Hole

Three cousins, Earl and Ray Van Patten, sons of Elizabeth Izora Stauffer (third daughter of John Herman Stauffer and Lucy Belle Parks Stauffer) and Earl Stauffer, son of William Allen Stauffer (oldest son of John H. and Lucy Belle Parks Stauffer).

Photo taken at the home of their aunt, Luella Beaumont Stauffer Taylor, the oldest daughter of John H. and Lucy Belle Parks Stauffer. The pool was created every summer by damming Jack's Run Creek (before the current Rt. 48 was built in 1924) and creating a neighbor swimming hole not only for those pictured but for other Taylor relatives and neighbors. The location is approx 100 yards north of current intersection of Rt. 48, Jacks Run Rd, and McClintock Rd. The house is still in use today, although remodeled. It was built abt 1896 by Harry Wallace Taylor for his bride Luella Beaumont Stauffer and is currently owned by former Judge Cynthia Baldwin.
