Park Hotel and Franklin News-Herald Bldg

Park Hotel and Franklin News-Herald Bldg

Park Hotel, tall building in back, and Franklin News-Herald building, shorter building in front.

Both buildings are no longer there. The Park Hotel burned down in early 1940s and the newspaper building was torn down some years later.

Thanks to Lyril Banister for identifying the buildings.  She used to watch in the street-level windows at them printing the paper when she was a young girl.

News Herald

My father used to work as a reporter for the News Herald in the late 50s early 60s. We then moved to Harrisburg PA around 1963. In 1965 my father took a position at Penn State University, State College PA, where we still reside. I would have graduated in 1969 from Franklin High School if we would have remained in Franklin.
