William Nelson

William Nelson

William Nelson owned a grocery store in Austin, PA. He was one of the few citizens concerned about the safety of the Bayless Pulp and Paper Company dam above the town. He went almost daily to check on the dam, and frequently expressed his concern. Unfortunately he was one of the over 78 people killed when the dam broke on September 30, 1911 and wiped out the town.
