Alfred Allison Bathurst

Alfred Allison Bathurst was a Sgt. with the Penna. National Guard after WW1. He wanted to fight during WW1, but he was under age and his father John Hines Bathurst would not let him.

Alfred was born 22 Jul 1903 in Pinecroft, Blair Co., PA, died 24 Jul 1951 in Altoona Hosp., Blair Co., PA, and is buried in Antis Cemetery, Antis Twp., Blair Co., PA near Bellwood, PA.

He worked for the Penna. Railroad as a Laborer at the Boiler Shop and later worked as a crane operator. He got his first job at the PRR in 1918 when he was 16 yrs. old. His father hired him and he worked at the watering station for the steam locomotives down the road. The man that held the position before was caught drunk by Alfred's father was dismissed.

Alfred was also a volunteer fireman with the Bellwood Fire Company.

He married Ruth Rosella Mallery on 17 Oct 1923. They became the parents of five children.
