In reviewing my family tree, I was looking at the 1870 census and it appears that your great great grandfather ran a school. One of my ancesters is listed as a pupil in the school on the census. Do you know anything about the school?

What I know is that his father died in the civil war, and the stories say that he was sent off to a boarding school.

Do you know anything about the school? Was it a boarding school? or an orphanage? Were students there by choice, or placed there by the courts?
