My grandfather's name was

My grandfather's name was Jonathan D. Springer. He owned a farm in German Township and passed away in the 1930's. My father, Alfred, had an uncle from Uniontown named Zedock. Any family information would be appreciated.
Thanks, Gary Springer

Your Grandfather

I mentioned your name to my dad and he knew all about your Grandfather. People called him J.D. and he had a brother Max I believe and was 1/2 brother with my Great Grandfather Thurman. My dad was real excited and would be happy to talk to you. Email me at and I'll give you the details. I think he said he worked on J.D.s farm as a kid. He also knew of your father. There was a Maxine inthere as well. My dad has it all straight. I hope you see this soon.

Springers in Uniontown

My great Grandfather Thurman Springer was from Uniontown. Graduated W&J College in 1906 then got his masters degree in mining engineering. When he died in 1962 he left 1/4 of his estate to his brother Max Springer of Uniontown. Thurman owned a coal mine in Canonsburg, Pa. As I was bartending in the 1980s I would often come across oldtimers that worked for him and they all swore that he was the meanest man to walk the earth. Consequentially, the remaining 3/4 of his estate is and will remain in Mellon Bank forever with the yearly interest being given to W&J College. He sort of took it with him. Hope this helps.
