John Blood

John Blood was born in Venango Co., PA, in 1807 and was raised by Francis and Eleanor Buchanan from age 6 months. His mother Maria Catharina Komtow (or Komtern or similar spelling) signed an apprenticeship to them when John was 6 months old. There was a John Blood on the tax list of 1805, who could have been John's father. Nothing further is known about John's parents.
John Blood married Elizabeth Masterson in 1828. They became the parents of three daughters: Eleanor, Rebecca and Eliza. Eliza was married to Horatio Nelson Gage of Crawford Co., PA. Rebecca married first, a Mr. Neeley, and second, to Daniel Fidler.
After Elizabeth died in 1834, John married Caroline August and they had 13 children, plus raised John's little girls.
