Augustus J. Glass 1834 - 1904

This photo of my GGrandfather was found in the family Bible. Augustus came from Germany as a 2 year old. The family settled in Venango county, Pennsylvania and farmed. When the Civil War came he and brother Frederick joined the 121st Regt. Pa Vol. Infantry. Co - F was the Venango company. I'm very proud of Augustus and I really wish I could have known him.
But I'm only old enough to have known two of his sons. Augustus was in the 1st Corps which lost 65% of the regiment at Gettysburg. My son and I went to Gettysburg in July 2007 to be where they fought. Augustus was also a Sharpshooter and after a 2 year search I found his personal muzzle loader. Every family needs a hero - mine is GGrandfather Augustus.
