James McAllister Shaffer

James McAllister Shaffer was the Professor of Mathematics at Westminster College and an alumni of the college.

He served as principal at McDonald Academy from 1883-1890; taught mathematics at Slippery Rock State Normal School, 1890-1895; served as principal of McDonald High School, 1895-1898, served as principal of Canonsburg High School, 1898-1902, and joined the faculty at Westminster College in 1902.

David Emmet Alter was originally from Oregon, the son a of preacher. He lived in New Wilmington, PA, and graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington in 1912. This photo was taken during his Junior year in 1911.

The 1912 Argo, describes David:

"His hair is a light teddy bear, some six feet above the ground. His eyes are blue...."

Anna Heyberger

Miss Anna Heyberger was the Professor of German and French at Westminster College.

She studied at the Universities of Vienna and Prague; was awarded diploma in Modern Languages at the Carl-Ferdinand University in Prague and Music Teachers' diploma in Vienna. She was the director of the School of Modern Languages at Tabor, Bohemia; Professor of French and German at Beaver College, PA, 1905-1906. She joined the faculty at Westminster College in 1906.

William Wilson Campbell

William Wilson Campbell was the Director of Music, Pianoforte and Vocal Culture at Westminster College in New Wilmington.

He graduated from Westminster College in 1891, and taught in Nebraska, Missouri and Texas, before returning to Westminster College as an instructor in 1906. He studied abroad during 1909-1910 school year.
