Elizabeth Patterson Gilfillan Blackburn was eldest daughter of John and Mary Clendenin Patterson, and was born in Cumberland County, PA, in 1793 before the family became pioneer settlers in Lawrence County in 1801.

She married Dr. Alexander Gilfillan. He died in 1815, leaving Elizabeth with one living child, Mariah Alexander Gilfillan Vance.

In Dec 1821, she married Benjamin Blackburn of Ohio. He died in 1876 in Ohio. They had no children.

Elizabeth Patterson Gilfillan Blackburn died 2 Feb 1880 in the home of her brother William Patterson (b 1815, North Beaver Twp).
