The article "The Story of Parkersburg" from the magazine stated: "Mr. C. A. Ruf came to Parkersburg Rig & Reel Co. in 1919, unheralded then, but destined within the next few years to great heights and become an important factor in the affairs and progess of the company." Also: "In the fall of this year Mr. H. J. Lockhart, President of the Corporation died after several months illness. Mr. D. B. Crawford succeeded to the vacancy thus created. Mr. C. A. Ruf, who had "come to the front" during the troublesome years of the depression, was named Vice President and Treasurer. One year later he was advanced to the position of Vice President and General Manager."
