Son of John Morris (1774-1852) and Matilda Decker (1790-1836) of McKean Co PA. Born in Portville, NY in 1815, he died in Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY in 1887. Married Elizabeth Cordelia Knapp, May 1837 in Olean, Cattaraugus Co., NY. Parents of eight children, born in various counties in New York and Pennsylvania, including Dr. J.E.K. Morris of Olean, NY. Occupation: Baptist Minister. Established churches and taught at schools from Buffalo to Pittsburgh. Famed evangelist, Jacob Knapp Jr. (1799-1874), was the stepbrother of Elizabeth. Donated by Charles Augustus Millard (1910-1995).

John Morris Wilmarth

John Morris Wilmarth (1834-1888), oldest son of Nelson Wilmarth and Matilda Morris (1816-1838), daughter of John Morris and Matilda Decker of Ceres and Eldred, McKean, PA. He was born in Olean, Cattaraugus, NY on 15 Jul 1833. In 1838 Matilda died in childbirth at the home of her father in Ceres Twp. with a son, later named William Almond Wilmarth (1838-1914), who was raised by William and Calista Lamphier in Eldred, McKean, PA. After leaving the baby in good hands, Nelson and John Morris Wilmarth moved to Athens County, OH, where Nelson remarried later that year. John M. Wilmarth is listed in the various biographies of William A. Wilmarth. "Morris" Wilmarth was raised in Carthage, Athens, OH and later moved West.
