Came to the U.S.A. in about 1871. Settled first in Wisconsin and then Minnesota.
Knut was a accomplished Hardanger Fiddle player with some success in Norway and here in the U.S. He died September 7, 1908. Buried at Arlington Municipal Cemetery, Arlington, Washington

OLSEN, Anders WI 2nd Cav Co K. Residence: Winneshiek County, Iowa. Born 28 Feb 1843 in Hadeland, Norway. Civil War: Age 20. Laborer. Blue eyes, light brown hair, light complexion, 5"8". Enlisted for three years on 20 Aug 1864. Mustered on 24 August 1864 at Madison, Wisconsin. Private. Believed to have been discharged on 14 Jun 1865 at Memphis, Tennessee. Post war: Died at age 24.
